Like a warm and slightly damp blanket, I am welcomed back home to the hot, humid and wet monsoon climate of Mumbai. My mum was thrilled with my arrival. I now have cupboard space for all my stuff! I cannot believe after 10 years I am now living with my mum.
Spending majority of my life in boarding school and the UK, I gained an independence that no one can take away from me, that is cultivated from within, along with an independence from location, and economy. I now feel like I am taking a step back, but not a regrettable one, just a decided one. When circumstances are difficult, you have to make decisions accordingly - good, bad or ugly.
I thank God for giving me everything I have ever wanted and more, and even for the things that didn't work out, and learning to suffer through it. For what are we but the sum of our struggles, our scars, lessons learned and happiness.
Thankfully, I also have the support of family, friendship and my homeland that will give me the love and comfort I need to start a new chapter in my life.
